Will it cost me anything?

It’s free to register on Present Partners and become a ‘Free Member’. This allows you to:

  • Carry out unlimited searches on the site
  • Add to or edit your profile – including the upload of your photos
  • See who’s visited your profile
  • Select your favourite profiles
  • Find out who’s added you to their favourites, or sent you a message

However, if you want to send someone a message, read a message you’ve been sent, or reply to it, you’ll need to upgrade your account.

This means paying a subscription, in a single payment, for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. The prices are:

  • 1 month: $39.99
  • 3 months: $98.97 (equivalent to $32.99 per month)
  • 6 months: $149.94 (equivalent to $24.99 per month)
  • 12 months: $191.88 (equivalent to $15.99 per month)

Note:  We will NOT automatically re-bill you at the end of your subscription period.

Instead, once your subscription has expired, you’ll simply go back to being a Free Member until you choose to subscribe again.

Accessing the site

I’ve forgotten my login details – what should I do?

Go to the Present Partners home page, click on ‘Forgotten your password?’ (at the bottom of the Sign-In box) and follow the instructions.

I’ve requested my login details but haven’t received them – why?

We only send login details to the email address you’ve registered. Check that you’ve entered the right address when registering with us, and that your email provider hasn’t put our email into your junk mail.

My login details don’t seem to work – what’s wrong?

Check that you’ve typed in your username and password correctly. If you’ve ever changed your password, make sure you’re not using the old one. Remember, an extra space counts as a character.

How do I change my password?

Sign in, Click on “Settings” under the Profile dropdown. Fill both text box and click “Save Changes”

How do I cancel my membership?

To cancel your membership, log in to the site in the usual way, go to “Membership” inside the “Profile” dropdown. Then click on the “Cancel Membership” button and confirm.

How do I upgrade my membership and pay to become a Subscriber?

If you’re a Free Member who’s trying to send or open a message, you’ll get an automatic invitation to subscribe.
You can also become a Subscriber by going to ‘Profile’ and choosing to ‘Upgrade my account’. Choose a plan and you’ll get instructions on how to pay by card.

Is it safe to use my card online?

Yes – we take your payment details through a secure server.
The authorisation of your payment details is done through a secure connection – via SagePay – to Barclays Bank, using the latest encryption technology available.
We don’t hold or store your card information. Our admin team only has access   to the data relating to your payment, such as what type of user you are and the date you subscribed.

How can I tell if I’m a Free Member or a paying Subscriber?

Log in to the site and go to ‘Membership’ in the Profile dropdown to find out which plan you are on.

I wish to cancel my membership, but my subscription hasn’t expired yet. Will I receive a refund?

Since you’re able to try the site for free before deciding to subscribe, we don’t offer refunds on part-used subscriptions.

What happens to my account when my subscription expires?

When your subscription is about to expire, we’ll email you a reminder and invite you to re-subscribe.
We will NOT automatically re-bill you when your subscription ends.
If you don’t re-subscribe, you’ll simply go back to being a ‘Free Member’. This means your account will still be active and your profile will be live on the site – although you won’t be able to send and receive messages.

There’s an error with my credit/debit card – what’s wrong?

We don’t authorise your payment details – it’s done through a secure connection.

If your card is refused, it’s possible that you entered the card details incorrectly so please try again. If your card is declined again, you should contact your card issuer.

What shall I write?

Your profile’s your opportunity to tell other Members about yourself, and to describe the kind of person/people you’d like to meet.

There boxes covering things like your interests, education, employment and appearance are optional, but we strongly advise you not to ignore them. People want to know about these things, so it’s a chance to give members an insight into what you’re really like.

How do I edit/update my profile?

You can edit or update your profile at any time. Just sign in and go to the ‘Profile’ page.
A member of the Present Partners team has to check every edited/updated profile before it goes live. So remember to use the ‘Send for Approval’ button if you’re happy with the changes you’ve made.

How are the Profile Visits ordered?

The Profile Visits page records who has ever viewed, or most recently viewed, your profile. It does not show how many times they’ve looked.
The last person who looked at your profile will be at the top of the Profile Visits page. If they’ve looked before, the earlier entry will be removed from further down the list so nobody will appear more than once.

Why should I add a photo?

Nobody really likes having their photo taken – but you’ll definitely get a lot more attention, and potentially meet more people, if you do decide to post a picture.
It’s a fact that many people won’t even consider a profile that doesn’t include a photo – especially if they’re looking for romance. However, it’s really important to add a picture even if you’re only interested in friendship. A fun photo can tell other members a lot about your personality, and will make you seem much more approachable than someone who hasn’t posted a photo.

How do I add a photo?

All you have to do is sign in to the site, go to “Profile” and hover the avatar with your mouse. The option “Change your avatar” will appear.

How can I search for other members?

Anyone can carry out a ‘Basic Search’, although you’re only allowed to see a limited number of search results before we ask you to sign in or register.
After registering and signing in, you can do an unlimited ‘Basic Search’. You’ll also be able to carry out a more detailed ‘Advanced Search’ that lets you use additional filters to really focus on the kind of person you’d like to meet.

How are the search results ordered?

You’ll see the results of a ‘Basic Search’ appear according to the date the members last logged into the site, with most recent first. All of the profiles with a Main Photo will appear before the profiles without a Main Photo.
This is also the default order for the results appearing after you’ve done an ‘Advanced Search’, although you can also search by ‘Newest members’ and ‘Most recently updated profile’. When you use either of these additional options, the existence (or not) of a Main Photo does not affect the order of the results.

What does ‘active within’ mean in someone’s profile?

‘Active within’ refers to the last time a user signed in to the website. We publish this information on their profile, as follows:

  • Active within 1 day
  • Active within 3 days
  • Active within 1 week
  • Active within 2 weeks
  • Active within 3 weeks
  • Active over 3 weeks ago*

* This applies to any profile where the user last signed in over 3 weeks ago but within the previous 3 months. After 3 months of inactivity, we automatically hide the profile from searches. The profile becomes active – and searchable – again once the user signs back in to the site.

Someone has sent me a message – why can’t I open it?

You must be a paying Subscriber to send and open received messages, so you need to upgrade your account.
Go to ‘Subscriptions’ and follow the instructions for subscribing.

How are the messages I send to other members anonymous?

All messages sent via the site give only your display name and a link to your profile. This allows you to remain almost anonymous until you decide that you want to provide more information to someone you’re getting to know.
However, please see our guidance on revealing information within our “Safe dating” section. {Link to “Dating in Recovery Safety Tips”}

How long are my messages kept for?

We won’t delete your messages, so you can keep them forever if you want! However, it’s probably good “house-keeping” to regularly delete the messages you no longer want.

Can my messages be retrieved once they’ve been deleted?

No – once you’ve deleted a message, there’s no way to get it back. However, you can keep your messages for as long as you like, so there’s no need to delete any unless you’re absolutely sure you never want to read it again.

How do I stop someone from sending me messages?

If you don’t want to receive messages from another member, you can click on the ‘Block’ button that appears on the sender profile.

The person you’ve blocked will only know what you’ve done if they try to send you another message.

When you block a person, neither of you will appear in the other’s searches and you won’t be able to send messages to each other.

To ‘unblock’ a member, go to the ‘Blocked Members’ list in Settings under the Profile dropdown.

What does it mean if I add someone to ‘My Favourites’?

This is a great way of letting people know you might be interested in talking to them. It’s also useful for keeping track of those you might want to send a message to in the future.

Will someone know if I add them to ‘My Favourites’?

Yes – provided their email options are set to receive this type of alert.

How can I remove someone from ‘My Favourites’?

Go to ‘Profile’ then click on the “Favorites” tab to reveal the list of your favorites. Click on “Favorited” remove the corresponding profile from your Favorites.

Why has someone disappeared from ‘My Favourites’?

If you add someone to your ‘My Favourites’ folder and then ‘block’ them, their profile will be removed.
People will also disappear if they’ve cancelled their membership.

What does it mean to ignore another member’s profile?

If you choose to ignore another member’s profile, it won’t appear in any of your future searches. This saves you time, as you won’t need to see any of the profiles that you already know you’re not interested in.
However, your profile will still come up in the ignored member’s searches, and they’ll still be able to contact you. If you don’t want this to happen, it would be better to use the ‘block’ function.

How can I add someone to my ignore list?

You can add a member to your ignore list by clicking on the ‘Ignore’ button on their profile page.

Will the other person know that I’ve added their profile to my ignore list?

No, they won’t know.
But remember, ignoring the person will not stop your profile coming up in their searches and they will still be able to contact you. If you don’t want this to happen, it would be better to use the ‘block’ function.

How can I remove a member from my ignore list?

Go to ‘Settings’ and then choose the ‘Ignored members’ tab.

What does it mean to ‘block’ another member?

You can choose to ‘block’ a member if you no longer wish to receive messages from them.
When you block a person, neither of you will appear in the other’s searches and you won’t be able to send messages to each other. Your profiles will be removed from your respective ‘Favourites’ lists and ‘Profile visits’ pages too, if they’d been added in the first place.
If you decide to block someone because you’re unhappy about some of their message content, please remember to let us know by using the ‘Report a Concern’ option that’s on all messages and profiles.

How can I ‘block’ a member?

You can ‘block’ a member by clicking the ‘Block’ button on their profile page.

Will the other person know that I’ve ‘blocked’ them?

The person you’ve blocked will only know what you’ve done if they try to send you another message.

How can I remove a member from my ‘block’ list?

To ‘unblock’ a member, use the ‘Blocked members’ option within ‘Settings’.

How do I change the email address you send messages to?

To change your email address:

  • Sign in to the website and go to ‘Settings’
  • Enter your new email address in “Account Email” box and then click on the ‘Save Changes’ button
  • Check the email account of your new email address. You should have received a message from Present Partners asking you to verify the new address
  • Click on the link in that email to verify and complete the change of your email address

I don’t seem to be receiving your emails – what’s going on?

The most likely reason is that your email provider is treating our emails as spam. To make sure this doesn’t happen, add Present Partners to your list of trusted senders by following these instructions:
Hotmail – Access your Safe List by clicking on ‘Options’, then ‘Junk E-Mail Protection’ and then ‘Safe List’. Add the domain name presentpartners.com in the box provided.
AOL – Add the domain name presentpartners.com to your address book.
Yahoo! Look for any of our messages in your ‘bulk’ folder. Once you’ve found one, open it and click on the ‘This is not spam’ link next to the ‘From’ field.
Other Providers – Try adding the domain name presentpartners.com to your address book or contact list, moving the message to your Inbox, or forwarding the message to yourself.
If subsequent messages continue to be filtered, contact your e-mail provider’s technical support and explain the problem.
How do I stop receiving email alerts when someone has sent me a message, read my message, or added me to their ‘My Favourites’ folder?
The default setting is for you to receive these messages. However, you can easily stop them by signing in and choosing the ‘Change my email settings’ option within ‘My Account’.
